My collection of Pinky St dolls and my bad habit of buying and selling them

2006 Wonderfest Kokoro

I was never a Kokoro fan. My first Kokoro, PK005B, was quickly put in my “to sell” bin. Maybe it’s because of her lack of expression. A mouth that neither tells you if she’s happy nor disappointed. For me, it just says “no comment.”

Other collectors I know adore Kokoro. They say she has that take charge attitude and doesn’t take crap from anyone. I agree, actually. Kokoro’s seemingly lack of expression makes hers the best face for photostories and cosplays. Unlike the other Pinkies, you can make her fit in any situation. It’s up to you to create her expression.

I guess that’s why she’s been the most-used Pinky character for various collaboration projects. Aside from three regular releases, Kokoro has been features as part of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion set as Asuka Langley Soryu (a perfect fit, I have to say), Acchi Kocchi Pinky, Animate Tencho Ramika, one of the four Pinkies for Space Invaders, 2006 GoFa limited figure, 2006 Wonderfest limited figure, and one of the latest collaboration releases, Choro-Q Pinky with Messerschmitt KR200.

After selling off five Kokoro heads, what made me want to willingly buy another Kokoro? Simply because of her eyes. Though her black corset and yellow hair are eye-catching, Wonderfest Kokoro’s eyes are really special. The colors and the contrast makes her eyes really pop out in every picture.

I’m still not a Kokoro fan. But this is one piece I will really think twice about before letting go. And it’s not just because she’s a limited release.

Evil Pinky

Jul 13, 2007 Author: nina | Filed under: Pinky St Collaboration

It was tricky getting this Evil Pinky. You would even say it’s…evil.

Getting one works this way: You have to buy a Kira Kira Music Hour OST CD first. Buying the CD gets you two coupons, which entitles you to buy a maximum of two Evil Pinky figure. To top it all, this was only available in Japan.

Evil Pinky

Luckily, we have a saviour in the form of Hiro. Hiro is an avid Pinky collector. He lives in Japan and always attends any Doll expo where Baby Sue and Vance Project will have an exhibit. Whenever a new Pinky comes out that will only be available when you buy a magazine, a manga, or a CD, Hiro would accept orders for members of the Pinky-Street.com forums.

Evil Pinky

Aside from the CD, the Evil Pinky comes with a batwing backpack, orange sunglasses, a belt strap thing and her own stand. The glasses can be attached through the holes in her front hair piece. As much as I love her hair, I don’t like the holes in her bangs, and it’s hard not to notice. Her glasses make her look bug-eyed. But other than that, I really love my new Pinky.

Evil Pinky

The OST was released back in February, but it wasn’t until the end of June that it was released. Because of the trouble one has to go through to get just one Evil Pinky, those who managed to buy extras are selling their Evils off at ebay. One even ended at US$60. Another on-going auction is now at US$52.50.

Evil Pinky

Was she worth all that trouble? I would say she is. Her pieces are unique. From her bright pink hair to the torso that portrays movement. Her pants isn’t the same as the pants the regular Pinkies have. And the batwing backpack? Simply adorable.

Tenjo Tenge’s Aya Natsume

Jul 13, 2007 Author: nina | Filed under: Pinky St Collaboration, TenTen Girls

Last December, we received reports that one shop in Greenhills is selling the two Air Gear Pinkies: Ringo and Agito/Akito. I wasn’t able to buy them then. I now have an Agito/Akito, but Ringo still evades me.

Fast forward to June 2007. I was back in Greenhills after six months, and itching for a Ringo. I scoured every building, looking for the store. I finally find it and the first thing I see was Aya Natsume.

Aya

Her boxed wasn’t sealed anymore; she was clearly opened. She wasn’t cheap, but she was in mint condition and I don’t have to pay for shipping. She was worth it.

She comes with her school uniform. Though the regular Pinkies often comes with a school girl uniform, the Tenjo Tenge’s school uniform top comes with one distinct difference: they’re busty. Really busty.

Aya

I suppose that’s in keeping with the character. The set also comes with a booklet and Aya Natsume postcards. One glimpse at the postcard and I learn why she’s…erm…carved that way. I wasn’t really interested at the anime (actually, I didn’t even know about the anime until I saw the TenTen Pinkies) nor the manga. After seeing this though, I must admit I now longingly look at the Tenjo Tenge mangas I see at Powerbooks and Fully booked.

Aya

Aya is the younger sister of Shin Natsume, and Maya Natsume. She is a freshman at Toudou Academy. She has a similar build to her sister and is close to equaling her in bust size.

Thank you, Wikipedia. What a colorful (and I must say, apt) description.

Aya

Five days after my one-year Pinky anniversary, I finally have my hands on one of the coveted Pinky Street dolls. Not bad, eh?
