I only had one day to spend in KL, and I knew how I was going to spend it. My only goal in Kuala Lumpur was to visit the Delectable store in Mid Valley and to take a photo of my dolls with the Petronas Towers in the background. I do regret not exploring more of KL, but really, I was just too glad to finally go home.

Before I left Singapore, I was able to find this snorkel set from Re-ment that’s the perfect size for Pinky Street dolls. The goggles were lined with pink, and it comes with yellow fins. How cute is that? This set is from the I Love Hawaii series.

I took the international express train from Bangkok to Butterworth, where I took a ferry to Penang Island. I met up with Wei, a long time online friend, who took me around the island.

One of the places we went to was the Kek Lok Si Temple in Ayer Itam. It’s a huge temple complex, that has a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains and the town below.

Mind you, I mean that in a very positive way. What’s great about traveling in Batanes and Luang Prabang is that there’s really not much for you to do, which makes it the perfect place to just sit back and watch the world go by. And that’s what we did.

From Cambodia, I crossed overland to Thailand for the weekend before catching a Bangkok Airways flight to Luang Prabang, Laos. I caught a terrible cold somewhere in between Siem Reap and Bangkok, and I spent the entire Saturday in my hostel room resting, since I’m going to be suspect for having A(H1N1) with my cold (thankfully, no cough and fever).

I was feeling considerably better by Sunday, and I spent the day outdoors, first getting lost in Chinatown and somehow stumbling upon a shop that sell 1/6 doll clothes and accessories, then exploring the two temples I missed during my first trip to Thailand: Wat Po and Wat Arun. Between the two, I appreciated Wat Arun more. I think Sayuri liked it there too.

Before setting off for Singapore, I browsed through eBay to look for a lens that would let me take wide angle shots and zoom in without breaking the bank. I found a Nikon 18-135mm lens that fits my budget, and asked my brother to pick it up for me. Of course, this meant that I wasn’t able to fully practice with the lens before setting off for my trip!

Here’s Yuiichiro and Sayuri at Ta Phrom temple in Siem Reap. This is where the Tomb Raider movie was set, and since its release, people have been flocking to this temple to have their photo taken by the tree that Angelina Jolie made famous. Of course, due to the Pinky’s size, it’s hard to take a photo with a recognizable background.

I brought Sigrid and Tina with me, but they stayed behind at my brother’s flat in Singapore, while I went off explore Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia with Sayuri and Yuiichiro.

I’ve been back since two weeks ago, but I’ve been pretty uninspired to update this blog. My travel blog was updated daily during my trip though, so if you’re interested to read about my adventures (and misadventures), head on over to justwandering.org.

Sigrid is wearing clothes from the Get Real Girls Backpacker set. The set includes a doll, a backpack, a sleeping bag and some camping items. Pretty nifty no? I was able to find this set on Ebay, and I didn’t hesitate to bid.

After Tina had her haircut, we trooped over to UCC for coffee, air conditioning and breakfast for Rotch. We were seated in a booth, and with all our excess baggage (a.k.a. doll carriers), there was hardly enough place for the dolls and the drinks.

Luckily, there was this lighted ledge right beside the booth. Perfect spot for keeping the dolls in sight and out of possible spills!

Junpei and Wills are Kaoko‘s Taeyangs and Hime is Rotch‘s princess.

Junpei, one of Kaoko‘s Taeyangs, was there when Tina had her haircut. I think he approves of her new hairstyle. Though I think he’s confusing Tina with Aki… Or maybe he was mesmerized by Tina’s outfit? Thank you Kaoko for … Continue reading →

Thank you Kaoko for letting me in on the group order from Cancan. Also, thanks for this awesome top. Tina loves it very very much.
